Nasambu Barasa, (Kenya/USA) Afro-Soul/R&B Singer-songwriter, producer and founder of the international band, The Mystic Nomads, has captivated audiences on 3 continents with her unique style, a fusion of Jazz, Soul, Pop, Latin, and African rhythms. Nasambu seamlessly vocalizes her poetry in the languages of English, Swahili, Luhya, Spanish and French. The Sound embraces the rich musical heritage of East Africa, while artistically showcasing the diverse backgrounds of the Mystic Nomad band members. Stylistically, Nasambu pens soul-stirring lyrics to reflect the realities of today's ancient modern sojourners living in a global village.
The first album, Activate Afrika, was recorded live in Los Angeles with The Mystic Nomads band, and released in the summer of 2012. The project was fully produced by Nasambu, partially with crowdfunding from her fans and presents a new wave of fresh creations and visions, featuring some of the top African, Jazz and Latin musicians in Los Angeles.

Nasambu's original music has been featured in soundtracks for several films and documentaries, one of which, Mr. Calzaghe, was premiered and awarded in London and Wales, UK (2015). She has also appeared on TV episodes on various stations, including The Africa Channel, Kenya Broadcasting Corporation’s Good Morning Kenya and Y254.
Nasambu has also toured and performed at numerous festivals, universities, museums and performance halls throughout the United States, Canada, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya, and across Europe, and sung alongside artists such as Grammy-nominated Rocky Dawuni of Ghana and Jidenna of USA/Nigeria, Warrior King and Kelissa of Jamaica, Nyashinski and Jabali Africa of Kenya, plus the legendary jazz vocalist Bobby McFerrin of the United States.
Throughout her journey, Nasambu has witnessed how Soul Music continually transcends the divisions of language, tribe, and creed to commune directly with the hearts of audiences around the world. "Music is one of the most powerful and unifying aspects of the human experience, voices Nasambu, "It speaks the universal language of the spirit."
Dynamic Live Performances by Nasambu can include Solo, Acoustic Trio or the Full Band Experience. The shows bring together a unique rhythmic fusion of musicians, dancers, live painting, African fashion and grooves from across the diaspora.
